Last Friday I flew to Des Moines, Iowa, for my first teaching trip to that state! I'd heard so many great things about Memory Bound from friends and couldn't wait to meet everyone there.
The store in Ankeny is huge! They sure must be doing things right because they are coming up on their 16th anniversary.
I browsed through the aisles of the store several times, and every time I saw something new. They carry just about everything for scrapbooking and all kinds of crafts and mixed media art. They have awesome samples to inspire, too. I think the best thing though is their wonderful staff - they are just so kind and helpful. Kellie and Dawn, the owners, are doing a great job of making their store so inviting. (They ship, too, if you ever need something!) I know it's easy to just shop online but it's wonderful stores like this that offer the community and friendship and education that you can't get by shopping online. Support local stores where you can!!
The classes went great! I loved meeting all the local students and always love to see how far people have traveled - from Minnesota and Wisconsin and Missouri and Kansas and Illinois. Thank you all for coming and blessing me so much with your enthusiasm and kindness!
I met a little friend on the dumpster out back... he posed so nicely!
On Sunday, before my flight home, Kellie took me to this awesome antique mall. We definitely didn't have enough time - now I HAVE to return!
I did find these sweet salt and pepper shakers! They're pink and praying - two of my favorite things! :)
I had a great view of Des Moines as we took off! I'm looking forward to returning next year!
A huge thank you to Dawn and Kellie and their wonderful staff for all their help and to all the students for blessing me. I always go home with an overwhelming feeling of friendship - I am a very lucky girl! God bless you all!
My constant thoughts and prayers are with all my friends in the Houston area. Hang in there!
