I was in Phoenix to work the week before last, but arrived a couple days early and had time to play, too! Shopping and eating and more shopping - perfect!
I always love the view leaving San Diego and the beautiful Pacific coastline...
And then landing in Phoenix where the skyline seems to stretch out forever.
The first task on my first morning was to head to Little Miss BBQ, a restaurant HIGHLY recommended by my son Jeremy. Even though it opens at 11am, he warned me to get there at 9:30 and get my place in line. Normally I wouldn't take that much time to wait for food, but it was a beautiful morning, I had my phone to keep me busy, and he said this BBQ would change my life, so I did it.
The restaurant is small and unassuming in an industrial part of town, and I was VERY early. The workers were very friendly and said that I'd gotten the very coveted first seat in line. That's my chair!
This was the line by about 10:30 and by the time they opened at 11, the line was super long.
They only cook so much food and when they run out, you are out of luck. The first to go is the fatty biscuit that he's cutting, which was heavenly.
Oh, my! It was sooo good. I bought double so that I would have leftovers for the next day. That little bowl is cheesy jalapeno grits. The meat melts in your mouth and the sausage is delicious.
From there I headed to the Goodwill Clearance Center. What a dump! I took a quick look around - it was literally garbage in the side bins.
The book "section" was pretty bad, too, but it seemed fitting to find this Carol Duvall crafting book, since she is the queen of crafting - I miss seeing her at the CHA trade show! I talked to her a couple times, many years ago. All I bought was a Buffalo Bill book that could be made into something cool.
Next stop was Melrose Vintage, one of my favorite shops anywhere. I have so many things from here that I treasure.
Nearby, at Rust and Roses, I found these awesome letters! The most amazing collection that I've seen!
On Friday I had a day of classes at the Arizona Country Club (thank you, Annette!) It was a beautiful venue for class. We had tons of room! Being a Friday during the day and just spread by word of mouth, I was so happy to have a group of fifteen girls join me to create and play!
Catching up with dear friends...
I'm so happy that I'll be returning to Phoenix the weekend of July 21 and 22 for classes at the store CraftFusion in Mesa. I can't wait to see everyone there!
