On the last day of each year I like to take some time to remember and reflect on the past year - to give thanks and celebrate all the good things that happened and to continue to pray for difficult situations - knowing, through it all, that God is good and faithful and, since He never changes, will be there for me and my family and friends in the future, just like He was this year. Like I said in my last post in 2015 (you can read that HERE, if you'd like to look back like I did), it is a good faith-building exercise to look back and see God's grace and mercy throughout the year. As a scrapbooker, I am a good "rememberer" - I notice (and photograph) of so many details of my life - it helps make life a celebration of both the big and little things that happen - otherwise, this past year would be a giant blur!
I made this little movie once again this year with the highlights of the year...
I get teary when I watch it - I cherish the friends I've traveled with, the friends I've met and caught up with at classes, the family that is always there - I'm humbled by the blessings of it. I would never have dreamed that I would get to do the things I've done and 100% of the credit goes to God.
I like to look back through my planner before I get the new one ready to go tomorrow and count the days I spent around the world:
- I usually spend a lot of time in Texas but this year it was only 5 days!
- 11 days in Alaska
- 12 days in England
- 16 days in California
- 19 days in Florida
- 26 days in Italy
- and 27 days in France!
I was blessed to visit three states that were new to me - Alaska, Oregon, and Washington, and two new countries - Sweden and Norway!
I was honored to teach at twelve stores or venues this year with classes in Alaska, two cities in Italy and one in France and one in Norway.
I loved having three groups of ladies travel with me this year to London and Paris, to Rome, Florence, and Venice, and to New York City.
Both of our kids moved this year - Jeremy and Becca from Phoenix to Melbourne, Florida, and Brandon from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh. We're so thankful that both have good jobs and are healthy and doing well.
I'm thankful for my husband who continues to cheer me on and support all my travels (and gets to go some pretty cool places with me!) and helps me pack the class kits and ship the boxes and all.
I'm thankful for the love and prayers of my mom and dad and that they are healthy and happy!
I'm so thankful for every person who takes a class or buys a class kit... I hope I've inspired my students to create and record their stories.
I'm humbled by every person who trusts their travel plans to me and shares our adventures together.
Most of all, I'm thankful for God's leading and His love - It's been a super good year, but even with all the great things, there is still heartache and lots of prayers that are prayed for family and friends who are going through really hard times. Their stories aren't mine to tell, but I am confident that God is working and knows what they need.
I hope you have a safe and happy new year - with much love, Debby
