I had a quick but great weekend in California, teaching at Ginger Nelson's super fun event Ready Set Create! I miss the days of teaching at CKU's across the country and the friendships that are made at scrapbook events. This event was so much fun for me because there were many, many students there that I've known for years but don't get to see anymore! There were 150 students there and in the first class about half had never taken a class from me before. In the second class about 1/3 had never taken a class and in the last class only three people had never taken a class from me! I am so, so blessed to have met so many wonderful people over the years.
When I got to my room at the Marriott in Burbank I had a chance to relax a little and catch up on some reading online. I had watched the finale of Big Brother the night before (not much else to watch during the summer TV season) and then I was reading about the finale online before I came downstairs at the hotel. When I stepped out of the elevator, one of the guys from Big Brother - James - was standing right there! It was the weirdest thing - to be reading about him and then to see him! Just ahead was Nicole, the girl that won a half million dollars the night before and Corey and Paulie from the show. I heard the whole cast was there but they are the only ones I saw. It was fun!
If you don't watch the show, you'll think it's pretty stupid, but if you do, you'll probably think it was a pretty cool sighting!
That afternoon I was able to take a tour of Warner Brothers Studio with two of my fellow teachers, Vicki and Layle. Thank you, Dana!
That's Luke's Cafe from Gilmore Girls on the far left end!
I loved the prop warehouse! Need a chandelier?
How about a telephone? I want the pink one on the top shelf!
We said cheers in the Central Perk cafe from Friends...
A few days later one of the girls (thank you, Susan!) was taking the tour and saw our photo in the studio lobby! How fun is that!
On Friday I got to do a little shopping and that evening we had some fun with the props at the Instagram photo set...
On Saturday I taught three, three hour classes to the greatest group of girls!
It confirmed how much I love teaching and sharing with my students. It was great to be together with good friends, too!
I flew home over night - that is grueling - and got back to Buffalo on a beautiful Sunday morning! The city skyline was perfect!
A quick unpack and repack and now I'm on my way to PARIS!!! I'm sooo excited to be there again. It truly has my heart! I'll be posting again soon!
