I hear a lot of people complaining about the horrible summer we've had here in Western New York, but I think it's been great! Not too hot and enough rain to make everything bright green and lush - and now the nights are getting cool - you can tell that fall is around the corner. In a way, it seems like summer is just starting since my parents just got here from Florida, where they live for the winter months. We'll be cramming lots of picnics and family get-togethers into a short time now!
My dad's favorite thing (other than us) is Paula's donuts - a local donut place - that makes the BEST donuts, so we welcomed him home with a dozen. The box of a dozen donuts is so heavy that we decided to weigh it - 4.9 pounds! And that was with glazed crullers in there, which don't weigh as much as peanut sticks! He was a happy guy! (You can see that some are already missing from the box by the time I took the picture!)
Over the weekend we went to a picnic at the campgrounds where they live when up north - free corn on the cob! Yum! It was cold and super windy so we headed for shelter pretty fast!
On Sunday we got together with them and my sister and niece and great-nieces for some more family time.
What a peanut!
I brought over a couple boxes of things that I was passing along - to them or to Goodwill, and we had fun dressing the girls up in the scarves. I think they had fun, too! :) I mentioned last week that I had listed a lot of things on ebay after I cleaned out my closet. I listed eighty items and sold seventy so far! I am packing things up and shipping like crazy. It's a lot of work but good to clean out and get a little fun $$!
By the way, I will be closing my online extra class kit shop that you can find HERE again while I'm out of town, so if there is anything you want, be sure to order it by next Monday.
I'd be so thankful if you could pray for Jeremy and Becca (my son and daughter-in-law). He has been looking for a job since March and, although he's had a lot of interviews, hasn't found a job yet. To complicate things further, Becca fell at work and broke her foot, so she has been off work since the middle of July, AND the lease on their apartment is up and they have to be out by August 31, and don't have any idea where they are going. Ugh! There are a few things that I know for sure... that God loves them way more than I do, that He has a plan for them and will take care of them, and that He will not let them down or show up late. BUT... this mom would love if you could pray for them to have wisdom and strength and be able to encourage each other on this adventure. AND if you know of somewhere in the Bay area where they could live temporarily while he continues to look for a job or in the Austin, Texas, area where there are also many high-tech jobs (or anywhere, really, where there are engineering jobs), I would be so, so thankful! You can email me and I'll pass it along to him. Thank you!!
Becca's mom and sister were in town last week and we got to see them Friday evening. We missed having Jeremy and Becca there terribly! Here we are...
I said that we should take a picture of how sad we were that they weren't there, and of course, Emma is being the bratty little sister! :) LOL
Brandon's doing good! He was recently promoted to NCO in charge of Family Practice at the clinic where he works on post in Virginia (too bad it doesn't include a pay raise!) I'm proud of him though and that he is finally being recognized for his leadership abilities! Way to go, Brandon!
Time to go - finalizing class preparations for my classes in South Africa next week and for classes later this fall - lots to do! Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine!
