One of my favorite things in Paris is coming up out of the Metro and seeing where you are - the neighborhoods are so different and the weather can change from one part of the city to another - the BEST is when you come up and see this...
Sunshine, blue sky, and a gorgeous building... the best combination!
Today was a shopping day in the Opera/Madeline area, seeing Galleries Lafayette, spending hours in Printemps (their perfume department is amazing and I never knew it, but Kitty in our group is so knowledgeable about perfumes and made it so much fun for us!), and making our way to Fauchon, Maille, and Laduree.
These next two pictures make me laugh - this is the view when you attempt to cross the street and suddenly the light changes and you are stuck on a tiny little patch of safety in the middle of it all and the rest of the group is left back at the light...
Printemps is this whole building and the one beyond..
That evening we had the evening tour of the Louvre and had the best guide ever, Victoria. She was very easy to understand, so knowledgeable, moved things right along, and showed us so many things in a short three hours.
This is one of my favorite paintings - I love all the little details it contains like the cat playing with the urn and the little dog on the table - the size of it is amazing.
It shares the room with Mona which is tiny by comparison...
I always enjoy seeing Napoleon the 3rd's apartments - not called that because he ever lived here though but because they are decorated in his style (according to our guide.)
Everyone thinks that I should start advertising my trips as a fitness program where you can eat whatever you want and lose weight! We pack as much as possible into every day - sleep is for home! These gals are troopers!
Today is my last day in Paris and I'm feeling very sentimental - 21 days in this hotel - it feels like another home! I'll be happy to be home but my heart will be here in Paris for a while! (Along with my cellphone!)
