Before I share some photos from last Thursday, I'll give a little update on what happened to me yesterday! I had bought a carry-on bag at Printemps department store but decided that it wasn't big enough, so I returned it today. The luggage department is on the 8th floor of the store and there was hardly anyone around. I took my credit card out of my wallet for the refund and had to change to a different register when the sales guy couldn't get that register to work. When I got to the second register, my wallet was gone. Just a very short time had passed - maybe a couple minutes - so someone must have seen it and slipped it away from me when I was looking away. I don't know - I have no idea how it happened. I just couldn't believe it after losing my phone last week!
We hunted all over the 8th floor but there was no sign of it. They took my information and I left. There are security guys by each door of the store and I finally found one who spoke a little English. When I was telling him, I started crying and he felt sorry for me and took me to the other building to customer service. They took all my information but there wasn't anything else to do. I only had the credit card that I had used for the refund - my two debit cards, one credit card, my driver's license and insurance id card, and worst of all to me, a copy of my passport, and all my euros were in the wallet. I decided to get something to eat at the little cafe in the -1 floor of Printemps and used the internet on my iPad to contact my banks and credit card companies. I just couldn't believe that this happened to me - especially on my last day in Paris!
I think the next thing that happened is pretty funny because it is so ME. One of my pet peeves is that Printemps charges 1,50 euro to use the restroom in the store. What a rip-off! I wanted to use the restroom before I left the store and since I had lost all my money, I decided to go back to customer service to see if they would let me use a restroom for free somewhere. Well, I'm so glad that I did because after they told me where to go for free, they said that they had my wallet and were just waiting for me to come back to get it. (They had already called my hotel and told them that they had it, but if I had just left the store and gone back to the hotel later, I might not have been able to get back to Printemps before the store closed. It is such a God thing that I went back to Customer Service just because you have to pay to use the bathroom. LOL)
The happy ending is that I got my wallet back with everything in it except the money, which I will gladly give up just to have all my other things back. I had 100 euros but at least it wasn't more than that. It makes my return kind of "expensive" but I can live with that.
ANYWAY... Thursday was our Le Marais area shopping day. We started out at Merci (by the way - for the first week girls... the sheep and goats and all the bigger animals are gone from the pen - just the chickens and one bunny are left. When I asked about it, the guy rubbed his stomach and said yum. :) I guess it was too noisy with all those animals in there.)
From there we went to Lou Lou Addict, another favorite store!
We had our lunch at the Grilled Cheese Factory...
We strolled through the Place de Vosages...
We photographed graffiti and wandered around the Jewish Quarter...
We had a lovely tea at Mariage Freres... just look at that creme brulee!
We spent the last few hours of the day at BHV, the amazing department store. By the time we got back to the hotel, we had walked out 23,000 steps for the day! Tired but happy!!
Today's my travel day - see you soon in the USA! :)
