Just a quick post before I head out for another busy day in NYC...
Yesterday I did a run through on the subway to the Highline and Chelsea Market in the morning. I love it on the Highline - it is such an oasis in the city and beautiful even at this time of year.
From there I made my way to SoHo - and the Dominque Ansel Bakery - famous for the "Cronut". I knew they would be out of them by the time I got there since people line up for two hours to get them, but I had read online to get a "DKA" instead. Whatever it is, it was delicious: crunchy and flaky on the outside and sweet inside. Soo good! The other desserts are typical French perfect little works of art!
I did some wandering in SoHo and then went to the half price TKTS booth in Times Square to see if I could get a good seat for a Broadway show. The girl who was answering questions highly recommended Matilda - I should have checked the reviews online and would have seen that this wasn't a good choice for me. It's the first time I ever left a show during intermission! Shrill and dumb - that would be my review, even though I know others have loved it. I love that there is something for everyone! I managed to do some shopping in Times Square (even though it seemed especially seedy this year, maybe because there is a lot of construction going on?) and got back to my hotel late at night.
Today the ladies begin arriving! I can't wait to see everyone - many are returning from previous years and others are coming to the city for the first time. I've got another subway ride to take and then the Rockettes tonight! And the sun is shining!!!
