On Monday, Michelle and I headed from San Diego to Las Vegas to attend the craft and hobby trade show - formerly known as CHA (and always will be to most of us) - and check out all the new products from paper-crafting manufacturers and to catch up with the friends that we only get to see a couple times a year at these shows. This show was very small, and I've heard that they announced that this will be the last summer show. Most other trade shows are held once a year, I think, so I don't think it's a bad thing to have one really good show a year, but I will miss seeing everyone and all the new things in person mid year.
We did some shopping the day we arrived at the Shops at the Forum and the Fashion Place Mall and had a delicious lunch at Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace. (I mean memorably good!)
We stayed at the LVH (Las Vegas Hotel) which was the convention hotel. It is not glamourous like some of the hotels on the Strip, but we made sure we had a renovated room (after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor) and it was fine.
The show began Tuesday morning - as always, on the first day, I spent a lot of time talking and catching up with people, so by Wednesday, it was time to get to work - looking for new product for my new classes later in the fall. I was happy to find more paper than I have liked than at recent shows - I'm going to have a hard time choosing! Over the next few posts I'm going to share some of my favorite things.
One of the coolest things I found - it almost made me cry - it was so special - was the collection that I'll be using for our classes for my retreat in October. (You can read about it HERE if you missed it.) We're going to be talking about the idea of "What's in our buckets?" and I thought I would find a pretty paper that I would make work, nevering dreaming that I would find the PERFECT paper! It's as if the designer, Adrienne Looman, crawled into my brain and designed EXACTLY what I needed - and it has a Cath Kidston look to it, which is totally ME!!
One of the papers even has little "buckets" all over it with inspirational words like faith and believe and hope - it is absolutely perfect for the retreat. I can't wait to get home and begin working on it! There is still some spaces in both weekends, if you are interested in joining Lori and I in Fredericksburg, Texas, in October.
I'll be back with more soon!
