Yesterday we celebrated Father's Day - I'm not a big fan of "Hallmark holidays" but I appreciate this day to say an extra "I love you" and show my appreciation to my dad. I always feel so bad for those who are missing their dad - who have lost their dad by divorce or death or who don't have happy memories with a loving dad - a day like Father's Day just sharpens those feelings. It seems sort of unfair for them - a day to get through. My loving dad has helped me understand a loving God who is my Father in heaven. My dad's faithfulness and unwavering support and love are such a blessing to me. I fervently pray for the girls who have been hurt by their fathers to feel God's love and have Him fill the empty spots in their hearts with His love.
I'm so glad Brandon could be here to give a big hug to Grandpa and celebrate the day with his dad. Being together is the best gift of all!
I'm thankful for a husband who has set an example for our sons of working hard and faithfully loving their mother. He is so proud of both of them.
Our adventure of the day was finding a turtle strolling down the street where my parents live for the summer here in New York.
Tiny thing - not sure how he wandered so far from a pond! He sure does look prehistoric when you use the macro setting on the camera!
He wasn't too fond of getting his picture taken!
Maybe he was out looking for his father??
We had a fun afternoon playing games - I love seeing my neice Audrey with Brandon - she calls him "that boy". They are strategizing on how to beat me at Guess Who.
Brandon is here for a few days on leave - Alicia was here for almost a month in May and is now back to school and work, so she wasn't able to be here too. You know I love having my boys around - just wish I could get them here at the same time!
Time to get ready for the day - if Brandon's here, then you know we'll be heading to Starbucks shortly!
