Over the weekend my brother Mark who lives in Mansfield, Ohio, and my sister Robin who lives here in Buffalo, and I celebrated my parent's 50th wedding anniversary with a party in my backyard for family and friends. It was a perfect day - what they want more than anything is time with their loved ones and lots of hugs - so that's what we gave them!
The party was originally scheduled for Saturday but as the day got closer, the weather forecast got worse, so we changed the party to Sunday which was a great decision! We kept it simple - my dad is a huge fan of the amazing donuts at Paula's Donuts so we had a donut buffet.
Jeremy and Becca were able to fly in from California for the weekend and surprise them. We loved having them here!
Their friends are like family too and came to celebrate their marriage!
Aren't they a cute couple - just as cute as they are today!
He still can't keep his hands off her! :)
Their love for each other and for God has been such a gift to our family.
My sister put so much work into the details of the party, my brother was the balloon man and helped set up, my parents even came and helped weed the flower beds, and Dave and I worked our tails off getting the yard ready for a party, but it's so little to do to say thank you for the heritage that my parents have given all of us and our children. We are so, so grateful for that and for their love.
We really missed Brandon and Alicia and all their grandchildren and great-grandchildren who weren't able to make it to the party. My niece Julie is due with her second little girl soon, and I love the matching expressions that my dad and Audrey have!
Jeremy and Rebecca just celebrated their first anniversary and only have 49 more to go to catch up with Grandma and Grandpa! I love seeing them together and how much they look up to them. They truly are an example of how to stay together happily for a lifetime!
Even Mr. Kitty had to get in on the celebration!
We all say - "We love you, Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, Bob and Lois!" Thank you for your constant love and support, for loving each other and giving us the stability and happiness of always being there - together!
