The collection of my memories from the holidays won't be complete until I finish telling about our adventures in New York City! My annual shopping trip there with the ladies kicks off the Christmas season for me!
I went to New York a couple days early to get some shopping in before everyone arrived. I arrived at Rockefeller Center just in time to see the huge Christmas tree being delivered. Very cool to see it go up!
This first picture shows it laying on the truck,
and then hanging from the crane and being put into position by the crew.
After coffee and a pastry at Bouchon, I made my way up Madison Avenue and then over to the Time Warner Center. I always love the decorations there!
My friend Anita from Texas and Anna from England arrived early too, so we were able to go see a play on Broadway. I am a HUGE fan of the PBS series "Downton Abbey" (I HIGHLY recommend it if you haven't seen it yet - be sure to go back to the beginning of Season 1. Season 3 starts in the US in January.) I was thrilled to be able to see one of the stars, Matthew Crowley... I mean Dan Stevens... in the play The Heiress. I didn't care for the play too much (kind of dark and slow) but I loved seeing Dan Stevens in person and getting to meet him after the play. He was very sweet with every person and patiently took several photos with me!
This was my first attempt at taking the photo of the two of us myself -
Fail! :) One more try and then it was time to hand the camera over to someone else!
He is a cutie for sure! He's very skinny which was surprising - there is just nothing to him! What a good sport though!
David Strathairn (from the Bourne movies) and Jessica Chastain (from The Help) were in the play too.
Times Square was buzzing as usual! Can you spot us on the billboard?
It was a great start to a GREAT weekend!
