After about 24 hours of travel time, I made it safe and sound in Lyon. I decided to go stand by on an earlier flight out of Buffalo yesterday and it was a good thing that I did because otherwise, I really don't think I would have made my flights because of the bad weather and traffic in Philadelphia. I actually did get some sleep (maybe 3 hours) on the flight to Frankfurt. I had six hour layover there... it was strange to be around everyone speaking German! We had a beautiful flight over Switzerland to Lyon... what a gorgeous world we live in!
Claire, one of the gals from Version Scrap, picked me up at the airport in Lyon and took me to the venue to check out my classroom... looks great! and then drop me off at the hotel. It's in a cool complex with a mix of hotel, apartments, restaurants, and theatre.
I didn't want to fall asleep at 3 in the afternoon, so I took a bus (by myself) to the historic city center and walked around and enjoyed the "summer" day. It was a gorgeous, perfect day!
Of course, I had to get my Starbucks! It's very strange to be alone in a foreign country where no one around you is speaking a language you understand. It's kind of fun and peaceful... just what I needed right now! :)
Well, it's almost 9pm, so I think I can safely go to bed and get a good night's sleep! I teach 3 classes a day for the next three days... it's a killer schedule, but I'm looking forward to meeting all the students and seeing my wonderful translator, Emilie! I'll be back with more photos soon!

Oh Debby what a wonderful time it looks like you are having ALREADY and PTL for a safe trip for you there. Take it all in girl!!!!!

Happy you got the earlier flight and are now enjoying a good night's rest in Lyon - thanks for sharing a bit of the city with us. Hope your classes go well - you certainly have a busy schedule... your students are lucky to have you offer so many classes. (I am taking three classes with Teresa Collins here in Atlanta this weekend.) It's scrapbook fun on both sides of the pond.
