Our first day in Johannesburg was a day for relaxing, shopping, and getting ready for our classes with the 475 delegates. We headed out to Sandton City and the mall on the Gautrain.
Nelson Mandela Square is a great photo op!
We always spend a lot of time discussing the use of "now," "just now," and "now, now," so it was funny to see it used in this advertising!
That evening we had a great variety of pizzas... nothing boring like cheese and pepperoni. This one has chicken and guacamole!
The Emperor's Palace complex where we stayed and the event takes place has a wide variety of places to eat... love their interpretation of Piazza Navona (been there... doesn't look like this!) Even the statue of David is wearing his rugby uniform! At least he's more modest this way! :)
Our favorite restaurant there is Tribes where they serve more traditional meats and foods. The BEST thing is the malva pudding... I can't even describe how delicious... my mouth is watering, thinking of it! Buttery cake and buttery custard... what a combination!
The wait staff came out to sing for us...
and we devoured it all!
After four nights in Jo'burg, it was time to head to Port Elizabeth and on to heaven... Kichaka Lodge.

Looks like lots of fun. What are the shops like in that mall? Are they some of those we have here in the US or are they a mix or what? Have always wanted to go to SA. By the way, how are Brandon and Alicia doing?

Malva pudding is a very easy recipe to make, but very rich. We make it it for special days. And you will not find a Afrikaans family that do not have a tried and true recipe handed down the generations.
