Today is another special day... our 32nd anniversary! I'm so thankful for my husband who has been so patient and encouraging, faithful and supportive, driving me back and forth to the airport, lugging my suitcases around the last few years... we've had so many great adventures, and I'm looking forward to many more! I love you...
As dated as this picture is... I think it's officially vintage... I still love it! The yellow tuxes on the guys sure looks corny now with the girl's homemade dresses, but it was totally me and really beautiful at the time in the garden setting of the wedding in my parent's backyard. If it had rained, I would have been devastated, but thank God, it was a beautiful day... the neighborhood ducks (if you live in Williamsville, you know what I mean) even came down the aisle before we did! How many brides had a floppy hat back then?! :) And I was a brunette?!! Lots of great memories!
So many people long for the good old days, but this picture is a perfect reminder for me that someday TODAY will be the "good old days" so I need to treasure THIS day and this time.

I'm happy to comment a little more about your wedding.Even though you planned it "long-distance" from Michigan, everything came together without being hectic...even to the rain the night before, when we had to bring all the chairs and the organ and the sound system into the house!!! The ushers worked harder than their usual duties require! You found the gown you wanted in Michigan and wished I could be there to see it. As you were describing it to me on the phone, you saw that it was on the cover of Bride Magazine!! I went right out and bought a copy. The dress and hat were perfect for a garden wedding. The weather was so perfect, but too much for your 15 yr. old brother, caught by the other ushers as he fainted!!! Perfect day then...have a wonderful, happy anniversary today! God is GOOD!

Happy Anniversary. Your picture reminds me of my best high school friend Colleen's wedding. I was a bridesmaid, our dresses were homemade and mine was yellow. Each of us had a different color and we wore hoops! (Because she wanted to wear a big hoop dress, but wound up NOT wearing one!) Any way, she wore a floppy had too, as did we. Her wedding was to be an outdoor wedding too at her parents farm in their beautiful backyard flower garden, but it did rain on her wedding day, so the wedding was in the barn. And I still think it was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever seen. After the ceremony the weather cleared and we took all the pictures outside. They'll be married 29 years this year.
Many happy returns of the day to you!

what a beautiful photo! It is not outdated, just vintage.... I guess I'm supposed to be a "new generation" age, but I still love that picture and the modest style of the bridesmaids' and your dresses. Surely must be wonderful memories for you!
I don't comment often, but love to visit your blog occasionally. Thank you for posting!

What a great photo! Yellow is my favorite color so naturally I love the yellow tuxes and dresses. Congratulations on your anniversary. Sounds like you had a very nice date at the park.

Happy Anniversary! My husband and I celebrated 32 years as well this year! Love the photo. Our groomsmen wore pale blue and the bridesmaids wore a pink floral dress, floppy hats and gloves :) Those where the good old days and we now have the good new days to enjoy. Thanks for sharing your memories.

Hi Debby - we will celebrate our 35th anniversary tomorrow and our wedding photo is in the same vintage style as yours. My wedding gown was a cover dress on Bride's Magazine too, the groom wore a white tux as did yours, and all our attendants were dressed in pastels as well (we chose light blue). I'll bring a photo to show you when you come to Atlanta. (I still have the Bride's Magazine too.) Thanks for sharing your wedding photo - you are a beautiful bride!
Happy Anniversary!

Hi Debbie - I was in my best friend's wedding that same year and our bridesmaids' dresses were made off that same pattern. Our dresses were pink with a soft rose print. I was a student in your CKU Atlanta class 5 years ago. :-)
