As you know, if you read this blog regularly, I love to visit pretty little shops on my travels. We visited a fabulous one in Ocean Beach, California named Vignettes. What a feast for the eyes!
I got a few treasure there that I just love! First, I bought this little paper cake slice...I love the layered paper flower on top...so sweet! I also love the domed cake stand I got at Paper Tales. Perfect! I just had to get this sweet little suitcase with the old lady who lived in a shoe on the front, especially because the shoe is pink and my last name is Schuh....
One of the favorite things I ever found is this pink book called Log 'O Life, Dedicated to Posterity. It was published in 1933 and captures the time so well, I think. The titles are so quaint! I love this list of girl's names...oh, how they have changed! (You can click on any picture to see the detail better.) Don't you love this list of "Firsts"...the first Big Circus, first shave, first courtship?
It's interesting that the race designations on this personal information page are red, yellow, black, and white. It reminds me of the song we used to sing, "Jesus loves the little children." It's so politically incorrect now! I also like this Glimpses page. I can't say that I remember my favorite glimpse of a cave!
There are so many other interesting pages like one for CItations of Heroism and Foreign Friends. My mind is spinning with ideas for an album!
It was so nice to meet Lori, the owner of Vignettes! What a fun store!
I need to come back to San Diego and stick my toes in the ocean! I love seeing the bay and downtown on one side and the ocean on the other! I made Michelle stop in the middle of the intersection so I could take a picture in both directions! We stopped so I could take a picture of the cliffs along the beach and discovered that I hadn't put any shoes on! (Sounds familiar, doesn't it?! I did the same thing in Florida one time!) So we had to run back home before we headed out to Ocean Beach. It's such a step back in time! We had a delicious lunch along the sidewalk at a Mexican restaurant.
We drove over to Coronado so I could see the city and the hotel. The only thing I didn't get was a floaty pen! Now I really do have to come back!
looks like a wonderful time and I loved the shops!

How did you manage to safely pack that wonderful dome? I'm remembering the glass cake plate we didn't pack so well from Leesburg. :) Looks like a great trip!!

Debby,
So enjoyed meeting you & just wish you had more time to spend with us here in sunny San Diego.
Please come back & visit us soon.
There's a floaty pen with your name on it!

Love the Vignettes store! I collect the floaty pens, too! My dear friend Sarah (whom I've been friends with since the age of 7) started me on my collection of them and now we buy them for each other whenever we can find them! Happy Travels and Happy Scrapbooking! Hugs, Robin (we met at BDSB in Houston not very long ago)!
